Industry Standards and Regulations

As a producer of electrical and electronic products, Eaton is fully committed to compliance with all relevant European directives, including, when applicable to Eaton products, the current Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations and upcoming Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations.

These European Union initiatives, RoHS and WEEE, were conceived in 2002 and were designed to limit the presence of hazardous chemicals in landfills and to regulate the use of certain materials and substances.

The purpose of reducing or eliminating these substances, as well as that of establishing agreements for disassembly and recycling of products after their useful life, is to reduce the level of hazardous pollutants in landfills, water supplies, and our daily atmosphere. Eaton is proud to endorse the RoHS and WEEE directives through the development of non-hazardous products and through sound disposal of harmful electrical materials in support of a safer environment.
