The New Eaton 5130 UPS Solves Costly Power Problems For IT And Telecommunication Systems

Grenoble-Montbonnot (France)… Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton® Corporation today announced the introduction of its Eaton 5130 UPS. Part of the Powerware series, the 1250 to 3000 VA line-interactive models are specifically suited for protecting servers, routers, switches, workstations, as well as Voice over IP (VoIP) and EDGE/3G/WiMAX wireless networking equipment against costly power fluctuations and outages.

Delivering clean, continuous power no matter the state of the incoming utility power, the 5130 is one of the most flexible UPSs on the market today offering the best price per performance ratio. Available in slim 2U and 3U rack and tower configurations, the 5130’s compact size is ideal for dense rack enclosures. In addition, user-replaceable hot swappable batteries allow users to safely install new batteries without powering down the connected equipment or removing the UPS from the network rack. For applications requiring longer run times, slim 2U external battery modules can be quickly added to provide hours of backup time – especially important for telecommunications, Voice over IP (VoIP) and healthcare systems.

“The 5130 family delivers features one would normally find in more expensive systems,” said Hervé Tardy, vice president and general manager, Distributed Power Quality Business Unit of Eaton. “Customers will appreciate the UPSs’ comprehensive functionality including load segment control, multiple communication options, high output power factor and high power density all in a sleek affordable package. The 5130 is one of the most sophisticated line-interactive UPSs on the market today.”

The high-efficiency design allows the UPS to operate at 95 percent efficiency – reducing heat and expensive cooling costs. And, with a 0.9 power factor, the UPS delivers more wattage in less space to protect more equipment and leave more room to expand IT systems.

Additional features of the 5130 include:

  • Optional Web/SNMP card integrates the UPS to Network Management Systems. It also has a built-in web server, which enables easy UPS monitoring and control through standard web browsers.
  • Intuitive power management software –LanSafe® provides control and operating system shutdown using an intuitive, graphical interface.
  • Two built-in USB and RS-232 serial ports plus a slot to accommodate a communication card to support Web, SNMP, Modbus, relay or serial communications.
  • Load Segments – Independently control output receptacles to selectively shed loads during an outage, remotely reboot systems or manage sequential start-ups.
  • Options – A host of options are available including extended battery modules, hot-swap maintenance bypass switch, and rackmount PDUs.

The 5130 models are available now and come complete with a two-year warranty. For additional information on the 5130 and other Powerware series products and services, visit www.eaton.com/powerware
