Eaton takes integration of power infrastructure with virtual & cloud platforms to the next level at VMWorld 2015

Barcelona, Spain … Eaton will be present at VMWorld Europe 2015, stand B136, held in Barcelona on 12-15 October 2015, to demonstrate how its power infrastructure solutions integrate with VMware’s virtualisation management platform, as well as with the OpenStack cloud orchestrator to ensure business continuity and optimise efficiency in virtual and cloud-based IT environments. Eaton will also explain how it can help customers house and power virtual IT infrastructures, including converged and hyperconverged solutions, reliably and cost-effectively whilst simplifying power management across the network.

Visitors to stand B136 will get a chance to view first-hand how Eaton´s power management software integrates seamlessly with VMware and speak to Eaton’s experts about the opportunities this technology offers. Eaton is the first company in the industry whose power management software integrates with VMware’s vRealize Operations management suite as well as with the OpenStack cloud orchestrator. The latest version of Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager (IPM) software, available this year, offers IT professionals unrivalled management capability over their virtualised and cloud-based IT infrastructures. IPM complements virtualisation and cloud management tools by extending their capabilities to include monitoring and management of network connected power devices, infrastructure-aware workload management, dynamic power capping, and initiation of failover policies. Policy-based integration of power and environmental events into virtual and cloud environments ensures IT professionals achieve SLAs and that the continuity of business is assured.

“Eaton is an Elite level member of VMware’s Technology Alliance Partner programme and our solutions are validated VMware Ready for integration with vSphere and vCenter. The latest version of our power management software improves upon this industry-leading collaboration even more. Now, IT managers can view the status of their network power infrastructure through an easy to deploy management pack that plugs into VMware vRealize. The software helps managers achieve peace of mind through infrastructure-aware business continuity policies including sequential load shedding, dynamic power capping and infrastructure-aware workload management to extend battery and genset runtime. If all else fails, the software can trigger disaster recovery policies such as VMware’s SRM and gracefully shut-down operations,” says Rory Higgins, Product Manager for Data Centre Automation Solutions at Eaton EMEA.

Visitors will have a chance to find out more about Eaton’s integration with world-leading converged infrastructure solutions such as NetApp FlexPod, VCE Vblock and EMC VSPEX as well as the hyperconverged platform from SimpliVity and appliances based on VMware’s EVO:Rail technology including VSPEX Blue. Eaton solutions ensure that converged and hyperconverged infrastructures are reliably protected from power and environmental issues, which results in improved continuity and resiliency for the entire business.

Eaton will also exhibit the newest additions to its range of rack based power distribution units (ePDUs) which provide IT managers with greater power management at IT equipment level and facilitate the accurate and safe monitoring of power consumption.
